Seventh Annual Orlando Speedworld BOP Nationals

On December 19, 1999 The 7th Annual BOP Nationals were held at the Orlando Speedworld. I was able to make the 125 mile trip up to race the Firebird. Below are some of the images that I shot while there. Being as I spent most of the time preparing the car I did not get to take as many pictures as I would have liked. The strong showing by Pontiac's were great to see. The overall winner was indeed a Pontiac! If you happen to see you car let me know. I'm sure people would like to know who owns these great looking cars.

This Autumn Bronze 68 looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It belongs to Mike Miller of Orlando. The Blue 69 race car was very well done. This was one of the nicest and fastest of the Firebird "race cars" there.

I know it's a Camaro, but it had a 455 poncho in it....gotta love it!! I never saw the gold 68 run, but it sounded pretty lumpy.

The orange 69 was very clean, I believe it was almost stock and still ran low 14's. Brian Burke waiting in line with his 67 show car. This thing was cherry and still broke low 13's with his very mild 400.

The Green 67 belongs to a guy in the Tampa Bay area, its VERY quick! I would tell you how quick but he would probably kill me so I won't. Notice the long lines, there was very good turnout.

The blue 68 GTO was running low 10's, the orange 69 Judge high 9's. The 69 was not tubbend and was running DOT tires!! Two very fast Pontic's. The 69 Firebird was running 10's as well.

I never found out what the blue 69 was running but it was one of my favorites of the day. The paint looked awesome! The 67 350 was really a 455. It belongs to a guy in the Orlando area. A very clean car that ran mid 12's.

The blue 67 bird was powered by a 428 with a edelbrock P4-B intake. (not the most hi-po intake in the world) and still busted out very low 12's! The 68 GTO race car was awesome!! I heard it was powered by an alcohol motor built by Butler, not sure if its true however.

As for my bird, I ran the best of 12.595 @ 107.68. I was pleased considering I was running the 3.08 gears. It was a beautiful day in Orlando and the track was in excellent condition. I would also note that there were by far more Pontiac's there then Buicks or Oldsmobiles. Thanks for visiting!
